Stores so much more than I’d expected, I can fit a large journal along with a couple of the refills and still close it without issue. Feels sturdy and I can’t wait to take it places with me!
And for VP pen owners, you can easily avoid the issue of it being clicked in the pen holder by simply… turning it the other way. ;) Or store it in one of the other pockets!

Very well thought out. The pen sleeve captures the pen by virtue of the Folio's fold. The rubber zipper tail gives good traction, so resting an index finger on it lets the zipper pull closed easier than "garaged" zippers. That zipper design also lets the Folio easily open flat.
Even better, my Field Folio came just in time for a writer's seminar I'm attending tonight. It will be a challenge, though. There I'll be, Field Folio in hand, the very image of James Bond's poise, projecting the quintessence of Sherlock Holmes' sagacity, and wondering how to remain true to my inner socially inept geek. I'll cope, somehow.
The inner pen sleeve is best suited for tapered pens. A Pilot Metropolitan fits perfectly, as does a Pilot Prera. For larger pens, the middle vertical pocket on the inside front cover will carry anything.
Very happy with this product. Well worth the price.

I was concerned about the zipper tail before I ordered, and I can confirm it is an unnecessary design element. It just hangs down on the side without any way to secure it. What’s the point of having it at the top when it’s not at the bottom of the case? I guess I have to ensure I only spill any liquids near the top of the case when closed.
You can’t close this case with one hand without holding the zipper tail. I’m not sure why you couldn’t take the existing zipper design from the Pocket journal and add it to the Field Folio. You can also have a locking zipper design similar to what Waterfield designs use on their cases. That way it wouldn’t open unless you moved the locking tab.
The side handle is way too large. It should have been made smaller, adjustable, and with a thicker reinforced strap for a more sturdy carry. The single strap handle feels like it will rip right off over time. Give me a handle that you find on a large travel backpack. Overall, the case quality compares well to the Field journal and the Pocket journal. I would have preferred a pocket on the front to match the back of the case. Hopefully, the durability of the case will hold up well over time.
Despite the issues, the Field Folio has a couple of positives. It holds many items depending upon the size of the items used in the pocket and the number of notebooks used. I could easily fit three notebooks with all the pockets filled. A fourth notebook is manageable but can be a bit overpacked.

I already had the Lochby Field Journal, and really liked it. But when I saw the Field Folio I had to have it. I am not disappointed. The quality of Lochby products is fantastic and the design is superbly functional.

What can fit in the Field Folio?

Does it come with a notebook?
Yes! The Field Folio includes an A5 dot grid notebook made from Tomoe River paper. Extra notebooks can be purchased separately here.
Can it hold multiple notebooks?
Yes, as long as the combined thickness isn’t over 1". You can carry up to four notebooks using the internal elastic cords.
Does it have pockets?
Yes! There’s a back pocket for notebooks or phones, and four interior pockets for cards, pens, etc.
Is it waterproof?
The Field Folio is made of waxed canvas, offering water resistance. Over time, you may need to reapply wax to maintain its water resistance.
Can I write on it with one hand?
Yes! The built-in plastic sheet makes it rigid enough for one-handed writing.
