This is my first Lochby product and the quality is better than I expected. The Mini Field Journal holds four Field Notes plus a few other small items. The pen loop is sturdy but still easy to use. This product will last for years to come and I am excited to see the eventual wear on it make it look even better.

I love this organizer. I work on a farm, am an avid birdwatching, and often find that paper notes gets me more in the moment, and out of my phone. The rigid back makes it easy to take quick notes anywhere, and made it very easy to write my wedding vows on a hike in Shenandoah. Multicam is a nice touch 👌

Though I keep a lot of information (calendar, notes, etc.) on my phone, I can't escape the desire to have physical paper versions of the same. I'm an engineer, and though I'm far enough along in my career that I'm not in the field much these days, the habits of jotting down my daily activities on paper will likely never go away until retirement. I saw the ad for these on some social media platform and kinda fell in love with the look and functionality. I didn't want anything huge, so I opted for the Mini Field Journal. I got some calendar notebooks, some lined notebooks, and some dot-grid notebooks to use with it. When I ordered it, I got a freebie "Sidekick," which is the smaller journal you see in a few photos (with a separate review on it, should you care to check it out).

The Mini description touts it will hold 4 notebooks, and technically it can, but I wouldn't recommend it from a "fatness" standpoint unless you don't keep much in the exterior back storage pouch. I currently keep a "flat" flashlight (yes, one in one of the Lochby ads - it was a serendipitous bonus "hey, you need this" kinda thing), a highlighter, and a mechanical pencil in my back pouch, along with that small engineer's scale. If I could give Lochby just one recommendation, I'd suggest they make the spine on the Mini a bit wider to better accommodate 3-4 notebooks.

I've only had it for a few weeks, so time and continued use might see me modifying minor ways I use it, but I've really enjoyed…

If you want full size organization in a compact design, this Mini Field Journal is for you. Quality design and construction. The Black Multicam in waxed canvas should look great for years to come.

My current notebook setup

1. Weatherproof (you know the brand) pocket calendar to keep my schedule

2. dot grid notebook for journaling and habit tracking

3. lined notebook for to do lists and note taking

4. blank notebook for everything else.

This has definitely kept me on time, on task and more productive.
