This field journal takes me back to the days in middle school when I had one of those Five-Star zippered binders. All of my supplies ready to be used--all in one place. This journal checks all of the boxes for me. The cord system is sturdy and it doesn't feel like they will ever snap or come untied. The honeycomb color with the brown waxed-canvas is a killer combination. I appreciate the two pockets to store student work or readings I print out to help with my lesson planning. If you are a male teacher and are frustrated with the market being flooded with flowers, stars, and filigree, look no further than the Lochby Field Journal.

This is worth it and an amazing product. Yes there might be other “similar” to it and what nog. But this is a LOCHBY. Outstanding materials, looks amazing, feels great, and it will age superbly like the other products they have as well. I have the A5 field notes cover and now this pocket size. I’m using the A5 mainly for sketching and drawing. And the pocket one as a mix of pocket sketchbook and basically my journal. Love these two! Totally recommend.

I've written several reviews regarding the Lochby journal case. I have about ten journal covers, mostly made of leather. They are nice and look great, but they have content limitations; I want to EDC more than usual people. I thought I'd give Lochby a chance, and the field case journal holder works perfect ffor my needs. In my case is a MD Midori notebook, with cover, a generic journal from Baron Fig, and a thin journal by Muji. I have a use for each of these, so I paired it with a Scrivner Fine point rollerball, and Pilot disappearing tip fountain pen. I am tracking the health of a person in one journal, muses in a second and misc. Writings in the others.
The cover traps all my instruments and other things when turned upside down, something the leather covers didn't hold. With that said, I am carrying this, almost every day, but used in the evening to catch up on events.
The initial cost was kinda steep, but it works better than my other covers.

I can not give this company enough stars right now. I ordered the field journal and a pack of 4 notebooks. The shipping got a little weird and my package took a detour through Mississippi for a while (for context I live in Pennsylvania and the package was coming from New Jersey). Liz from support was the most helpful customer service person I have ever dealt with. My package came today and I absolutely love the journal, it's exactly what I was looking for and seems very durable and well made. Couldn't be happier!

What can fit in the Field Journal?

Does it come with a notebook?
Yes! The Field Journal includes an A5 dot grid notebook made from Tomoe River paper. Extra notebooks can be purchased separately here.
Can it hold multiple notebooks?
Yes, as long as the combined thickness isn’t over 1". You can carry up to six notebooks using the internal elastic cords.
Does it have pockets?
Yes! There’s a back pocket for notebooks or phones, and four interior pockets for cards, pens, etc.
Is it waterproof?
The Field Journal is made of waxed canvas, offering water resistance. Over time, you may need to reapply wax to maintain its water resistance.
Can I write on it with one hand?
Yes! The built-in plastic sheet makes it rigid enough for one-handed writing.
Which color should I choose?
