Great notebooks if you use a fountain pen

I bought two Lochby pocket size notebooks as an experiment to see if they would work well with disposable fountain pens like the Pilot Varsity. Many pocket notebooks can't handle fountain pen ink — the ink bleeds through to the next page and makes quite a mess. The Lochbys, however, worked perfectly and fit my uses like a glove. As the picture and video show, I don't try to make my notes pretty. My notebooks are simply places to jot down thoughts, ideas, and reminders as quickly as possible. If I want to save a note, I either dictate or type them into Obsidian or OmniFocus. Once I had determined that Lochby's notebooks could meet my needs, I ordered 30 of them and I'm happily filling them out at the rate of about one every 7 to 10 days.

    Convenience...

These are great for everyday carry when you don't want to carry around my Field Journal.

    Just slides into any pocket.

Need to take a quick note... there it is.!

Feel like exercising your drawing skills... there it is!

Same great paper as the A5 so works well with pretty much any writing instrument.

You can get cheaper notebooks of this size, but the quality doesn't quite stack up, especially if you use fountain pens.

    Amazingly well thought out!!

While I typically journal in A5 size I was amazed at how nice this pocket notebook is. I love the Tomoe River paper and all the cool little details of the cover. I know that what I’m about to say is repeatedly mentioned in the comments but I really do take it everywhere. I’m enjoying taking planting notes while working in the greenhouse and wherever else I end up.

    Ruled refill

It’s a great refill. Sometimes I write with fountain pen and some times with ballpoint or sharpie. Works great for all and goes with me everywhere. I mostly use it for notes on how glass reacts to flame out in the garage while lamp working.
