So you’re looking for a pen case. You’ve seen the Tool Roll, probably already have it, but you’re looking for something smaller. One you can carry around with ease for when you only need to bring your favorite writing instruments. We’ve got the Quattro for that!
But we know you have questions which is why we’ve put together this blog post to address the most common ones. We’ve sorted through the reviews where we can, too—so we can show you how an issue or concern you have has been solved for someone else right after they got a Quattro of their own.
But first thing’s first: why the design change?
By far, this is one of the most common questions we started getting after the change. Understandable since people run into photos of the old Quattro only to get to the website or our social media accounts to find something slightly different.
Quattro photo comparison: left, old Quattro; right, new and improved design.
We made the change based on customer feedback and as an improvement: some folks didn't like the fact that they were carrying two fountain pens upside down, which could cause leaks. Don’t worry though—the four pockets are still offset to reduce bulk. We also added an extra soft liner fabric for padding and to ensure that no pens get scratched!
With that important bit covered, let’s take a look at a few specific things about the Quattro.
Can it really fit just four pens?
Ideally and as the name suggests, we recommend using each pocket for one pen only to ensure they don’t rub against one another. We of course don’t want your favorite pens to get any scratches or flaws.
However, we’ve seen people put five in it—all while renaming their case Cinco—and more!
So at the end of the day, it’s totally up to you! There are also slots outside the Quattro if you want to add a few more pens and have no issues with added bulk.
Doesn’t it get bulky when zipped up?
We’ve made sure to offset the four pockets to reduce bulk! In fact, it’s one of the things people who own a Quattro love about it—it lies flat when it’s closed even if you have four to five pens in it.
We're also EDC enthusiasts and we realize the importance of carrying only the essentials. We've made sure the Quattro stays compact while keeping your pens safe.
What kinds of pens can fit?
A lot of pens and mechanical pencils fit just fine, including the majority of fountain pens. As for oversized ones, we own the Sailor’s King of Pen and the Montblanc 149 and they’re also a great fit!
It also fits the Benu Ambrosia which, according to one of our customers, they had a hard time finding a pen case for—until they found the LOCHBY Quattro.
Have people put other things in it aside from pens?
Yes! One of the reviews we received about another use of the Quattro is from a tapestry weaver and they use it to hold their tapestry bobbins! We find this really fascinating.
How about you? If you own a Quattro, have you tried putting anything else in our pen case aside from pens? Let us know!
What other questions do you have about the Quattro?
Are there others that haven't been asked or weren't covered in this post? Let us know in the comments! We'd love to answer them for you.
