By now, it’s obvious that many of us use social media just by the fact that a lot of things in our everyday lives have made themselves part of our feeds—news, food, entertainment, banking… more likely than not, there’s a social media account for it. However, seeing the actual numbers can still be surprising: reports say a total of 4.65 billion people are using social media as of April 2022—a whopping 58.7% of the world’s population with an average of “10 new users every single second.” With more than half of the planet posting, sharing, liking, and commenting on just about every platform available out there, this begs the question: is it even possible to stand out at all?
The unbelievable answer is yes! This is because, unless you’re aiming for worldwide celebrity status, all you really need to do if you’re looking at becoming more well known online is to stand out where it matters: the niche or community of your choice. In today’s article, we want to share four specific things that can help get you more attention on any social media platform!
One surefire way to stand out is by telling a story. We’ve been doing this for thousands of years, and as it was a long time ago before paper books, IG stories, and Netflix, to this day important lessons and useful information are still passed down from generation to generation, person to person, with the use of stories. With its ability to engage people’s emotions, a story can do a lot of things: it can entertain and educate, inspire and encourage, and even persuade individuals into taking action. In fact, a great story can also have an impact on a person’s beliefs to the point that it can change them.
Lists and bullet points are great when you want to share valuable content to your target audience, but we recall things best through stories. Therefore, if you’d like to pull people in and have a more lasting impression on them—enough to make them follow you and come back for more—turn your content into a compelling story!

Watch out for chain missions—the last mission in a chain usually has a high reward!
One of the things that can help you get noticed is to make your content less about yourself and more about your audience. This is, of course, not to say you shouldn’t share anything about you at all—the occasional glimpse into your personal life will make you relatable and trustworthy. As a result, people will feel that you’re “human” and not just a fabricated online persona. However, don’t forget to “serve” your audience: if you really have to talk about yourself, make sure your followers will get something valuable out of it.
As human beings, we are very self-serving and it’s only natural for people to follow or engage with you only if you’re offering them something that they need—whether that’s to answer a question that they have or provide a solution to their problem. If your aim is to become a social media influencer, online entrepreneur or content creator, put the needs of your audience first.
Accounts with large followings have more freedom when it comes to talking about themselves, but that’s because most of them already have a strong fanbase. Even then, you’ll notice that the more successful ones remain focused on delivering content that their followers want to see.
If you’re a new member of your chosen niche or community and don’t have many followers yet, choose just one social media platform to focus on. It probably is a priority for you to extend your reach and have more engagement ASAP, but in order to do so, you’re going to need followers and more traffic.
The problem is, many beginners spread themselves too thin by posting the same exact post everywhere. But here’s the thing: what may work for Instagram might not be as effective on TikTok and vice versa. It’s vital to learn and understand what works depending on what platform you’re using, including what the trends for each are and the general format they follow. By doing this, you can tweak your content according to what’s popular, which will then allow you to become more effective when sharing value to your audience.
Once you’re an expert on your main platform, if you feel the need to expand, then do the same thing as you move on to the next one: learn as much as you can and implement best practices.

Did you know that reaching Gold level means you can withdraw your cash rewards?
Just as its name suggests, social media platforms focus on a very important thing: the social aspect of media. If you want a shot at standing out online, whether that’s on Instagram or Facebook, participating in conversations within the community can help people become more familiar with you and your content. Listen to others and allow yourself to be heard. Leave comments, like posts, and share them!
Some influencers prefer to wait for people to find them, but because there’s now so much noise and traffic online, doing nothing and exerting no effort just means you’ll never get noticed. To get noticed at all, you need to garner a considerable amount of attention, and the only way to do that is to engage with others. Why wait for others to reach out to you when you can do the reaching out yourself?
Talk to people in the community until you become a familiar, trustworthy individual that others can rely on for great, valuable content.
These are just some of the basic things you can start doing to stand out on social media. Results are, of course, not always instant—there’s no guarantee your next post is going to trend—but if you work hard, remain consistent, and are willing to help other people by providing them great, informative posts, you should see your following grow in no time.
